Fibre smoothes communications within Clemenger group
Background
Clemenger Communications is the holding company of a group of companies involved in advertising and marketing communications services throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Situation
With 12 offices across Australia, Clemenger Communications’ Internet usage had moved beyond web browsing and emails to also encompass bandwidth-hungry applications. Clemenger was experiencing particular difficulties during new business pitches, which often involve several agencies in the group sharing large files.
Solution
Uecomm replaced the old frame relay and SDSL network with new fibre optic and copper Wide Area Network (WAN) that uses Uecomm’s data facility as the hub between inter-office and external communications. The WAN covers all 12 sites in the group.
An Ethernet Managed Router solution, and the use of Uecomm’s Data Facility as the network centre, ensures smooth communication between all businesses both within the group and externally.
Possibilities
Kevin Nugegoda, Clemenger Communications’ National Technology Manager, said the contract with Uecomm has resulted in multiple benefits to the company.
“Our agencies are much better equipped to compete for consumers’ attention on behalf of their clients, especially since a lot of what we do as a business is online.
“We now have the capability to utilise cost effective video conferencing with our interstate and international clients, and between agency offices which puts a face to our account staff regardless of distance.
“Our IT department can now manage our servers remotely while taking advantage of the 24 hour service, air conditioned premises and security provided by an external data centre,“ Mr Nugegoda said.
Uecomm’s Director of Strategy, Brendan Park, has seen significant growth in demand from the communications sector in the past 12 months alone.
“A lot of communications agencies have high levels of digital assets, which must all be backed up and shipped electronically. Telecommunications has truly become part of the communications service delivery, with agencies thinking online as much as any other medium,” Mr Park said.
