Uecomm Appoints Chief Operating Officer

Uecomm Chairman, Bob Green, today announced the appointment of Peter McGrath to the position of Chief Operating Officer.

Peter has extensive industry experience, joining Uecomm from AAPT’s Connect Pty Ltd, where as Chief Operating Officer, he oversaw the restructure of the organisation and brought focus to securing new product offerings, sales growth and market recognition as a leading service provider in high speed fibre, internet access and data provision.

Previously Peter was Group General Manager, Mergers and Acquisitions, Telstra Corporation, and prior to that, Director Corporate Finance at ANZ Investment Bank.

Bob Green said that Peter’s strong industry experience will be a key to Uecomm’s strategic positioning and growth in 2001 and beyond.

“Peter has a knowledge base gained over the past decade from a variety of roles in the telecommunication industry at senior management and executive levels,” he said.

“This expertise will be vital, as Peter brings greater focus to Uecomm’s planning, operational, marketing and cost controls as we further strengthen our market share through leveraging our fibre-optic infrastructure, strategic relationships and opportunities resulting from industry rationalisation. We have already increased our client connections by some 62% since 31 December, 2000; from 217 to 350. With the majority of our core network due for completion in the third quarter, 2001, we plan to build substantially on this number.”

The role is newly-created and provides day-to-day management support to the Chief Executive Officer.

Peter will oversee Uecomm’s sales, service, network planning and operational areas. He will commence with Uecomm in the week of Monday, 23 July, 2001.

Every network is different. Our focus is always the same. You.
