Uecomm Secures $12 Million Extension to DSL Roll-Out Contract

Uecomm Limited today announced it has secured a $12 million extension to it’s existing service agreement with Intelligent Public Network (IPN).

The contract extension will see Uecomm provide additional managed network infrastructure for use in IPN’s national Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) network rollout. This latest project furthers an agreement signed between the parties in April this year, valued at approximately $4.2 million over 4 years. The contract extension brings the total value of the agreement to approximately $16.2 million over a four year period and is subject to deployment projections being met by Uecomm and IPN.

“This deal is a direct result of Uecomm’s ability to deliver quick solutions in not only CBDs but greater metropolitan areas”, said Mark Norman, Uecomm spokesperson. “We look forward to a strong and growing relationship with IPN”, Norman added.

Today’s announcement coincides with a statement by IPN in Australia that it is finalizing agreements with Compaq Computer Australia Pty Ltd and Compaq Financial Services (Australia) Pty Ltd for the provision of systems integration and support services to IPN.

"We want to be first-to-market with the most attractive IP networking offer for small- to mid-size firms. The speed, features, pricing and cost-of-ownership advantages of Interspeed SDSL access routers help make that possible. We look forward to a long and mutually successful partnership with Uecomm Limited", Stephen Snowden, managing director of Melbourne-based IPN, stated.

The Interspeed SDSL access routers will be provided by Interspeed and co-located in Uecomm’s points-of-presence (POPs) in each city. IPN is supplying the advanced IP-based application services and data centre, while Compaq will provide back-end infrastructure equipment, consulting, installation, system and site integration and maintenance support as well as financing. The core managed ATM based network backbone will be provided by Uecomm.
