Uecomm has signed a three-year contract with Rio Doce Australia and will begin deploying the network immediately.
Uecomm will deliver Ethernet services over its fibre network to provide Rio Doce Australia with connectivity to its Brisbane head office and essential disaster recovery services.
Uecomm’s Director of Strategy, Brendan Park said, "South East Queensland is experiencing unprecedented demand for high speed broadband services and Uecomm is delighted to be working with Rio Doce Australia."
Uecomm provides a flexible, resilient and cost-effective Ethernet network that brings Australian business locations together at speeds from 512kbps to 1Gbps.
Rio Doce Australian Director, Marcelo Matos, said Uecomm’s contract win was influenced by the carrier’s ability to deliver an end-to-end solution that includes scalability, redundancy and disaster recovery facilities.
"Uecomm was able to provide us with a simple and cost efficient integrated solution, and we’re confident that their services will be an important platform for our expansion plans," Mr Matos said.
Rio Doce Australia’s parent company CVRD, announced last week the successful acquisition of the leading Canadian-based nickel company, Inco, in a $17bn (US) deal that may place CVRD potentially as the second largest diversified mining company in the world.
