Queensland, Australia – 08 December 2005. High-speed fibre broadband specialist Uecomm, will deliver the broadband network needed to power Townsville-based ISP, Regional Internet Australia (RIA).
Uecomm has signed a five year, multi-million dollar contract, with the regional telecommunications provider and will start work on RIA’s network immediately.
Uecomm, through its strategic alliance with Nexium Telecommunications, will provide essential fibre services needed for RIA to rollout ADSL 2+ throughout regional Queensland in addition to providing data backhaul to Brisbane for the delivery of internet services.
According to Brendan Park, Uecomm’s Director of Strategy, demand for broadband services in regional areas is a growing market and Uecomm is delighted to be working with RIA.
“Northern Queensland represents a great opportunity for the provision of telecommunications services. Working with a local provider like Nexium Telecommunications enables us to take advantage of existing infrastructure to deliver high speed, cost effective broadband solutions,” said Mr Park.
“We are very pleased to be working once again with Uecomm to deliver high speed services into regional Queensland,” said Andrew Deme, General Manager, Nexium Telecommunications.
RIA Chief Executive, Warren Thomson said Uecomm’s contract win was influenced by the carrier’s ability to deliver an end-to-end solution and its strategic alliance with Nexium Telecommunications.
“Uecomm was able to provide us with one simple integrated solution and we’re confident it’s the best possible network option for regional Queensland.
“Demand for broadband access in Northern Queensland is growing rapidly and RIA will continue to rollout ADSL 2+ services to meet this demand. Uecomm is a company that we can partner with for the long term,” said Mr Thomson.
