Uecomm appoints Head of Engineering

27 November 2007 – Leading next generation networks provider Uecomm, has appointed Marc Teichtahl as head of engineering. Teichtahl is responsible for leading Uecomm’s technology team, developing innovative product solutions and ensuring optimal service delivery.

Uecomm CEO Dean Tognella said Teichtahl’s strong collaborative approach will develop the team’s focus and contribute to outcomes based on customer value and needs.

"Technology is a fast moving industry with new standards constantly being introduced. For Uecomm, the challenge is to ensure our team is focused on continual improvement and service excellence.

"Marc’s international vendor experience and service provider understanding is a great asset, and will contribute to the innovation, quality and excellence we are focussed on," said Tognella.

According to Teichtahl, providing continual improvement in network services and functionality, which are aligned to customer expectations are key to the role.

"My experience with international telecommunication providers, carriers and vendors in a broad range of market environments has given me a deep understanding of the importance of thinking creatively, moving fast and ensuring service excellence. Providing an innovative environment that encourages our engineers to leverage new technologies and meet the needs of our customers is critical.

"Key also to my role, will be a focus on human resources. Too often, engineering is seen as the "intellectual work horse" of any carrier, and the management of people is forgotten. By promoting open and honest communication with customers, vendors and staff, and providing the right structure for staff development and innovation, technology excellence will follow," said Teichtahl.

Before joining Uecomm, Teichtahl spent 10 years overseas in a number of senior director and management roles. He deployed pan-European and pan-US IP backbones for Versatel Telecom, Novaxess and XB. Teichtahl also worked for Cisco Systems for three years, where he was focused on core routing protocols, MPLS and QoS, and ran the Cisco pan-European peering forums.

Marc holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Digital Systems Design from The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.

Marc Teichtahl reports to Uecomm’s director of operations and technology, Ian Noble.
