Melbourne, Australia - 20 October, 2003 - Australian fibre broadband specialist Uecomm, today announced that it has commenced commercial operation in Canberra.
Brendan Park, Uecomm's Director of Products and Marketing said that establishing a local presence in Canberra was a logical next step for the carrier, who already has a customer base in the region.
"We've enjoyed considerable success to date with government and corporate customers, said Park. "Our presence in Canberra ensures that we can now deliver all the benefits of direct connection of the Uecomm network to customers. It will allow our customers to easily and quickly add their Canberra offices to their national data network and will give us access to more than 170 government buildings," said Park.
"Whilst other carriers are scaling back their infrastructure investment, Uecomm is continuing to build its success to deliver infrastructure to connect our customers where and when they need it," Park added.
Uecomm currently owns and operates an extensive fibre broadband network throughout the CBD and metropolitan areas of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane (extending to the Gold Coast), in addition to providing services in Adelaide and Perth.
Uecomm opened its Canberra office and installed a point of presence (PoP) in the region, in early October.
