Lumentis Delivers High-Bandwidth Optical Solution To City Carrier in Australia
Contract for high-end enterprise storage area networking services
STOCKHOLM AND MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA-May 20, 2003-Lumentis, provider of optical transport solutions, announces an agreement with Uecomm Limited, a specialized fiber broadband carrier located in Australia to deliver high-bandwidth and reliable storage area network (SAN) services to OM Australia, a world-leading provider of transaction technology for the financial services and energy industries. Uecomm found the Lumentis Mentis platform to be cost-effective and flexible. The unamplified optical solution that Lumentis provides facilitated the building of a scalable network infrastructure to meet OM's needs.
Uecomm provides a MetroWave service that allows organizations like OM to communicate large quantities of data at high speeds to multiple locations. Lumentis provides its Mentis optical transport platform that provides the transport infrastructure to assist with the offering of high-end enterprise services such as SAN along with increased bandwidth to enable real-time backup of data. This winning combination also provides Uecomm's network with the flexibility to deliver transport services with a range of different protocols such as IP, SDH, FibreChannel, Gigabit Ethernet, etc.
