Uecomm Awarded Queensland Health Contract

Uecomm Limited announced today that it had been awarded a $2.9 million contract for the core of the Queensland Health data communications network. The contract was signed on Friday 10th May in Brisbane by Queensland Health's State Manager -  Information Services, Anton Donker and CEO of Uecomm Peter McGrath.

Peter McGrath commented "We are delighted to have been selected as the provider for the core of the Queensland Health network. Queensland is the first state to implement a whole of state health network. Selecting our fibre based solution for the core allows for excellent support of existing applications such as patient record management and new applications such as tele-medicine as well as future proofs the network for further developments."

"We look forward to a long relationship, delivering increased levels of service to the Queensland Public."

Uecomm is accredited as a preferred supplier to the Queensland Government, and is on the preferred supplier panel for telecommunications carriage services. Uecomm was selected from amongst the 20 companies tendering for this opportunity to provide the high bandwidth core of the network connecting several strategic sites including the core hubs and data centre sites.

Anton Donker commented  "The Queensland Health state-wide data network is an Australian first.  In 1997 we scoped out the concept where network services would come under one umbrella rather than being managed at a regional level.  That vision was realised with the signing of these contracts."

"With applications such as the transmission of medical imaging growing, we are experiencing exponential growth in the utilisation of our networks. To meet this need we require not only high bandwidth today but a highly scalable solution," Mr Donker stated. "Uecomm as a specialist provider of broadband data solutions was an excellent choice. Their all fibre network provides the scalability and quality that health providers require at reasonable prices."

"We look forward to working with Uecomm to support our communications needs now and into the future as we build the network infrastructure required for Queensland Health to provide increased levels or service to patients."

Every network is different. Our focus is always the same. You.
